Birthday Boy

The month of July seems to be dedicated to Ben and the fact that he turned 5 on the 3rd...first the actual birthday, then the party and then we keep getting things in the mail...will it ever end??! (And, to those of you who sent us all those wonderful gifts...we are a bit late in getting out our thank you notes, they should be coming soon!! THANK YOU!)

Birthday Boy, Part Deux

Just in case you were worried...here are MORE pictures of the boys...the actual party at good ole Chuck E. Cheese...where a kid can be a kid...and a parent can buy alcohol (not that I did during the party, but it is there just in case)...seriously, that place makes me tired...aaahh, until next year!

It's my birthday, It's my birthday (Yes, I did get them matching shirts...I can't help myself)

Check out the bling

Whew-thank goodness that's over!

Some crazy voice in in my head talked me into doing the Eppies triathalon again. But this time that voice helped me talk our old neighbor Tatyana into doing it with me (actually I didn't have to twist her arm much...the lady is a fitness machine and rocked the competition!)

It was a 5.82 mile run (slow, hot and painful), a 12.5 mile bike ride (really slow) and a 6.35 mile kayak ride (surprisingly fast, the best part of the race and can you believe it no one passed me!)down the American River. All said and done I finished in 2:48:10, about 5 minutes faster than my 2:53:24, 2 years ago. WOOHOO. Still lots of room for improvement..but that will have to wait until next year!

Me and Tatyana after the race. She was smoking at 2:19:45!! WOW!!

Papa on Parade

I don't know if you know this or not, but Papa (aka my Dad) just finished up a year as the president of St. Helena Rotary. With Nana at his side as the Chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce for St. Helena, they are taking the town by storm...I like to refer to them as Mr. and Mrs. Mucketymuck (they don't seem to be warming to the name-wonder why?!)

Anyway, the Rotary club had a debunking of the president...kinda like a roast and paraded Papa around town, had a nice dinner in his honor and then had a laugh or two at his expense...the boys and I were around to enjoy every minute!

Three wild and crazy guys

Thats Mr. and Mrs. Muckeymuck to you

World Cup

Summertime is upon us and the boys started out their break with a soccer camp. Lots of fun in the sun. The last day was a world cup competition and Jack was on Team Costa Rica...they came in second.

Also on the agenda for the summer...golf camp, nature camp, swimming, karate (what did I get talked into??!), T-ball for Ben (very funny...I'll have to take pictures), playing outside, riding bikes, playing video games and Jack's favorite pastime...watching TV. I'm trying to get them to read...but for some reason they just don't want to do it...what is it summer vacation or something??!

See the ball, be the ball
GGOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!
Got the game face on...gotta support the team with facepaint

The Graduate

Big boy Ben finished preschool and is officially on his way to kindergarten-HOORAY!!

To celebrate, preschool had a graduation complete with bios on all of the kids. Ben was asked the following questions:
What do you want to be when you grow up? A fireman (A month ago it was a rockstar...oh well, there is more to life than being rich and famous!)
What does your dad do? He works on a puter (A puter??? OOHH, a computer!! So that's waht he does all day!!)
What does your mom do? Oh, she plays and spends money (seriously, that is what he said...well, he hit the head of the nail on that one!!)

The future of America

The guy who works on the puter to make money and the lady who spends it all while playing!

Ben with his class...notice he is the only posing for our camera??!

Feeling great and shot a 68

No not me silly...the golf master in this house is still Chris. Can you believe it, he shot a 68 on Friday??! He played in an amateur event in May and came in 11th out of 80 guys. He plays in another one next week, hopefully he will do just as well if not better.

Speaking of golf, I played my first 18 holes last week in a best ball scramble. Can I tell you how incredibly tired I was??? OHMYGOSH it was tiring...hot...and fun. I had some good shots, bad shots and LOTS of whiffs...but thats what being a beginner is all about (or at least what I tell myself). I didn't help my team out much (except on 2 holes that they actually used my ball) but it was a good time.

Did I tell you that on hole 15 which is a water hole, or island hole (I don't have all the terminology) I hit it within 5 feet from the hole off the tee, pretty darn exciting, considering the fact that we had just watched Chris hit his ball in the water...he didn't shoot a 68 that day...but pretty darn close...his team won by 14 shots...OK enough of all the golf talk on to something else.

End of the innocence

The last day of first grade, it went by so fast!

It was a great year for Jack, he did GREAT, we are really proud of him and all of his accomplishments...you should hear the kid read...he also has some "rainman" moments with numbers, he clearly got his math skills from dad (thank goodness...I still struggle with 2+2!)

The class did four plays and Jack was in "The Dragon", he played Sir Tim, check him out...

Yes sir!

What can I do for you King Cameron?

Chicken Dance

Dadadadadada dadadadadadada dadadadadadada clap clap clap clap

The name of Ben's preschool is "Creative Kids" and boy oh boy are they creative! This year in the local Meadow Vista Pioneer Day parade they entered a chicken coop float with all the preschoolers dressed as chickens, they were SOOOO cute...I know someday down the road Ben will hate that these pictures are in existence...but for now enjoy!

I am a chicken...fear me!

See me flap my wings...I will peck you with my big beak

Here I am with some of the other chicks working my moves

Here is the big coop

I am done being a chicken...I am much better at being a turkey (or at least that is what my dad tells me!)
